Dead '95 Sportage

I've been working on repairing a cooling leakage underneath the intake manifold on my gf's '95 Sportage 2.0 MRDI 4WD, all went well except when I got everything back together again, the car was dead, and it still is. When I turn on the ignition there's a loud summingsound coming from the two black Bosch relays in the fuse box (under the hood). If I pull out one of them both shuts up..

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated...

What are these relays for?

PS: This has been posted at 4x4wire as well, but I'm in desperate need of help..
