EDIT: You can forget it, they have lost their minds and trying to give me the royal shaft with no lube.
Looking at buying it and the new car dealer has it on 'clearance special' for $8,981. 42K miles with auto tranny, cloth seats, power windows, doors, mirrors, CD & A/C, pretty well equipped but no ABS brakes. Looks good outside like it has been garaged and inside looks good. Tailpipe is clean and shows no signs of oil burning. I'm car savvy and know how to check one out but wonder if there's anything in particular I should look for on the Focus. I wonder why they put new tires on it at 42K miles because my present Taurus has 44K miles on it and at least 15 to 20K miles left on the factory tires, no where NEAR worn out. I'm a senior citizen and don't drive hard at all.
I punched in the VIN at CarFax and got the following info:
2002 Ford Focus SE Comfort/ZTW/SE S Engine Type 2.0L L4 PFI DOHC
DOHC - Dual Overhead Cams, that I understand but the rest means nothing to me. Is that the Ztech or Duratech engine and what does the L4 PFI mean? How about Comfort/ZTW/SE S ? Any info you can give me on it would be appreciated.
Thanks rivguy, but those banditos wanted to stick it to me and must think I was a real dummy when fact is my ride is worth at least $1500. more than the Focus and they wanted me to give them my Taurus & a grand boot money. That's OK, when I get my inheritance I'm going to get a new car and it darn sure won't be from them.
