steering problem

today while i was pulling into my drivieway, i turned my wheel to the right and started to straighten the wheels back out and my steering wheel locked up ( almost like someone grabed it for a second.) Also its kinda hard to turn the wheel left and my power steering pump whines when i turn left or right. i checked the fluid and it looked ok. any suggestions??

year, make, model and engine would be helpful. But from your symptoms, it sounds like your power steering pump is bad.

well i just drove the friggin thing to my buddies house like 5 min away and i lost my power steering just before i got there. when i left, somehow i had power steering again but it felt terrible so it will be going in the shop tomorrow.:frown:
