Cylinders 1 & 2 misfiring

I have a 2000 Honda Civic EX 2-DR. It's my first car, and I don't know a lot about cars, but I'm learning.

A guy did some sort of diagnostic test on my car and said that cylinders 1 and 2 are misfiring. He suggested I change the spark plugs and wiring. I did that, but it didn't help.

Any suggestions as to what it could be and how to fix it? Also, how serious of a problem is this? Like, is it a "fine for a little while, just get it fixed soon and don't go on roadtrips" type thing, or a "every foot you drive is causing serious damage to your car" type of thing?

well if half of your cylinders are misfiring, then I think you would notice it first.

2 misfiring cylinders would make the engine run very rough and sputter a lot, does your car do that? If the car runs smoothly, then the problem was probably already fixed, it's just a matter of resetting the check engine light.

Yeah, it still runs pretty rough. I can feel the car shaking. It was doing this before I changed the spark plugs and wiring, and it still is. I definately wouldn't classify it as running "smoothly." Shakes quite a bit.

Sounds like the timing may be off. May have to take it to the shop and have it checked more thoroughly. I would do it A.S.A.P. because it could cause a lot of damage if not corrected. Good luck.

I've tried not to drive it since it started actin' up. I'll get it to the shop soon. I was hopin' someone would be able to tell me what the problem is and and I could do it myself (I have no money), but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Thanks! Appreciate it.

Maybe take a look at the fuel system, could be faulty injectors, also take a look at the distributor cap & rotor. But like titantn24 said, it sound like a timing issue, so be sure the shop checks the timing first before doing anything. IMO, I wouldn't drive it until it gets fixed, try to find another form of transportation in the mean time.
