Probably A stupid question...

I have just bought 2 15" Kicker L7s (4 Ohm) and I have a ZX 1500.1 amp which is 2 ohm. I've always heard that it's bad to mix a two ohm amp with 4 ohm speakers but lately I've been hearing that it doesn't matter. Do I need to replace the speakers with 2 ohm L7s or is the system fine as is? Any help at all is appreciated. Thank You.

you need to buy new subs or a new amp because either way you wire it the amp will either blow from over heating ( to low impendence) or would give off crap output becuase of too high impence. thats why you don't want to just go to an audio store and buy them you want to research them

You dont need a new amp or new subs. the amp can handle a 2 ohm load which is perfect for your setup. Wiring them parellel like this

Will net a 2 ohm load. Most amps can handle between 2-8 ohms with the exception of the 1ohm and lower stable amps. But there are some that wont handle 2 ohms in certain setups. Your setup will be fine if installed correctly.

those are single voice coil subs in the pic for duel voice coils like the l7s are. and that would create a 1 ohm load which equals one fryed amp if it is not 1 ohm stable and also try ebay for l7s

He didnt say whether it was dual or single just 4ohm. Well then wire them in series and you will hav 4 ohm. Just making the amp produce closer to 750 rms to the subs which will be 325 to each. Which means half the rms power to each sub. Which wont be as loud but it will work.

You dont need rms power going to a sub.
