All,
I had posted a couple of weeks ago that I was considering getting a GM (http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38434#) truck (http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38434#)...
I came across a full size that looks to be in great shape on EBay.
But...
Mileage is 268,000.
The truck looks to be well maintained, and I'm just curious as to how long the 5.7 engines tend to last. Also curious to see if anyone has ever purchased a car (http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38434#) on EBay before. What are your experiences?
Here's a link:

I'm curious as to everyone's opinions - is this worth bidding on?
Thanks,
Kevin

i would pay 1000 bucks for the truck without an engine or tranny!!! That thing is in very good shape, or at least if it has bondo all over it, it is very hard to spot. if it is in as good of shape as it sez, get the truck and when the motor goes to hell, drop in a new crate 350 for 1500 bucks and have a rebuilt tranny put in also, which will only be maybe 500 bucks if you do the installation yourself. then you have a 2 or 3 thousand dollar truck that runs perfect and can go another 250k miles, as long as the other crap, like the wiring harness, holds up well.
as for the mileage of the 350, some of them will last for what seems like forever, while others have some problems. my dad had a 90 silverado with a 350 that needed the valve seals replaced at 30,000 miles, but after that it ran like a dream and when he sold it there were 180,000 miles on the motor and all it did was smoke a little blue if you started it up after sitting a day or two. Those old smallblocks will last a long time if you treat em good.

I bet you the seat is all ate out... the old bench seats just don't hold up very well. I think there are either a couple of dents on the drivers side bed side or thats a wave in the body filler. Looks like a new alternator, master cylinder, and wiper contol module. That one rim looks like shit. If i venture a guess i would say that that's a replacement headliner as the older style (as on my 88 silverado) did not have the visors recessed into the headliner. All in all I think for 1000 I would probably bid on it. It seems to be a rather nice truck. If i were a betting man, I would say that this has been owned by an older man, garage kept (lack of rust on cab corners and rockers) Probably highway miles, I don't think this has been a serious off road machine. Especailly if they have always had those tires on it. Be sure the 4x4 works. Although the 700r4 transmission should be serviced if it hasn't Take in count that this guy has alot of negitive feedback......12....
Read his feedback and make sure to talk to him and inspect the vehicle prior to bidding if you can...
