im guessing you are talking about the CAI.......in that case, i think that they are both in the same neighborhood, but with the HS, you must purchase a smaller battery, which is not necessary for the PR.......

You do not need a new battery w/ the HS.

Nope.

What did happen was that HotShot sent me one coupler which was the wrong size. But since I bought the AEM by pass valve I didnt need it anyway.


What I was annoyed about was that I bought a new battery and had to return it cause as you can see I have my stock battery in there.

since you have the bypass valve, you don't need to worry about the rain water or anything like that is that correct?

Well rain drops and light water splashing up from the wet ground is not really an issue. Mainly because these little splashes arent dense enough to pass through the filter all that easy and there is still plenty of air around to be sucked in before raindrops have a chance.

The main issue comes when you drive through a deep puddle (6" on up... though I'm not incouraging you to drive through 4" puddles, even with the BPV I avoid 2" puddles like the plague). When there is enough water to partially submerge the filter, your intake will suck that water straight up because it is desperately searching for air. If the water gets in your engine, guess what? It's stuck there! water is not combustable (wont explode) like gasoline, so your engine will get locked when its trying to crush the water.


To put it another way...

(rain drops)
Lets say you are out running in the rain. As you're running rain drops are hitting your face but you can still breathe in without sucking rain drops into your mouth or nose because there is still plenty of air still around.

(small puddle)
Lets say someone throws a cup of water at your face while you are breathing in, you end up sucking in some water with the air because the water just had a bigger mass to it.

(large puddle)
Now lets say you go running straight into a lake. When your face gets submerged you will not have any air around so you will begin to breathe in water. Once your lungs get water in them you can die.

Same principal with your engine.

b-b00gie, I thought AEM specifically suggests the Bypass valve should go after the MAF. Don't they?

I dont think I've ever heard that before... and I dont think its correct.

If you put it between the MAF and throttle body, when the BPV actually does its job it will open and suck in air. Therefore by passing the MAF!! When was the last time our cars were supposed to run w/o a MAF? ;)



The BPV should be between the MAF and filter... as close to the MAF as possible. :)

Well, you did not hear it and you did not think it was correct because it was WRONG. I stand corrected! Only thing that worries me is that it is only the 2nd day at work after vacations and I am already "malfunctioning".
