yeah, you know that little chip on your key? That sends a certain amount of resistance, or something like that to the computer to help verify that's the right key. That way people cant just easily go make make a copy of your key and jack your car, without that resistance the car wont start.

pretty much, it's like a code. the area around the ignition have a transmitter and reciever, it sends a signlas to the key, which is then sent back. if it's the correct code (it's encrypted) then the computer will allow the lock to turn and the car to start.
this prevent using copied keys (ones without the right code) or forcing the lock.

yeah...and when u put a auto start on your car, u have to either get a key with the chip made for them to put in the are where the started is, or get someone to do the bootleg hook up and take your chip out and intergrade it into the starter so it will always read the key...problem is now your car can be hot-wired and started with a normal key...unless your name is dj and u have the worlds best talking alarm! lol...que all squerll jokes..(however the hell u spell it)

Or you can do what I did and just program the VATS off.

john thats the smart way to do things, here on AF we like to go the round about way that ends with cussen, throwing things and pretty much pulling out all of our hair!:grinyes:
