2000 Bonneville opposite climate control problem

Thanks in advance for any help!
I read the post for the 2000SSEI climate control problem. My problem seems to be just the opposite. With the dual climate control, the passenger side does blow hot air (including the passenger side of the front defroster), but the driver side will only blow cold, even if it is set to 90 degree (this includes the driver side of the front defroster). The rear vent located on the center console does blow hot air.

Any thoughts/suggestions?
Thanks again,
Eric P

Eric:

I have this very same problem with my 2000 Bonneville and that is why I just joined. In addition, when the climate control is off and no air is flowing, I can feel the intense heat still contined just inside the adjustable air vents.

It's fixed! Kinda... It did turn out to be the driver side air mix actuator. I was able to access it by removing the kick plate (not sure what to call it) under the steering wheel. Putting the seat all the way back, ank lying on my back, I could see and access the air mix actuator. When turning the climate control, the little metal nub did not move (as it did on the passenger side when adjusting the control - can see this air mix actuator by removing the glove box). I removed the actuator (2 screws - 5.5 mm I think) and pulled the part. Checking the part, it did not move freely at all. I took a small open end wrench and turned the lever that the actuator was supposed to control. I turned it all the way (counter clock wise) so that I now have heat. Heat is now controlled by opening or closing my vents. Come summer, I'll either have to replace the part or turn the lever the other way. Hope this helps. Eric
