86,
I'll wee what we con do to get your name fixed before the the heard gets in a ruckus.
Question, have you spec'd the cam to make sure it's still holding up?
As for the rockers, a specific torque spec would be in a service manual (35-30 ft lbs sitcks in my head from my 3.8 buick), not sure about the 6ers but on the SBC 305 and 350s we would just get em bottomed out snug , then go 1/2 round on all then 1/4 round.

make sure the intake manifold gaskets are on before you put the rockers and rods in cause the ones that say not to cut cant be put on when all that is on...and the chiltons book says what it is. its not a torque. you get the lifter down and tighten the rocker till theres no up and down play in the rod then go i think half a turn?? not sure on that, actually i will go look it up in my chilton...... ok when the motor is at top dead center you can work on exhaust valves 1,2 and 3 and intake valves 1,5,and 6. tighten the nuts till there is no lash but its not pushing down on the rod. you shold not be able to move it up and down but you can spin it. then tighten the nut an additional one and a half turns. so 720 degrees. then rotate the crank one full revolution so its back at the zero degree timing mark. now you can do the same to exhaust valves 4,5,and 6 and intake valves 2,3,and 4
