Alright guys so I recently got my 1st car its a 1999 Eclipse GS. I have a few modifications in mind but one that I was wondering about was changing the spoiler. Do you know if your able to remove the spoiler on this car? Because it doesn't seem like you can? Need the edges it is like molded and I wasn't sure.
Would I be able to remove it and put a spoiler like this one on?

Also if you can throw me a quick estimate how much do you think a total repaint of the car would cost (different color)?

The spoiler is held on by bolts from inside the hatch. You can remove it and put whatever you want there, as long as the holes match up. If they don't, you will need to drill holes and fill the ones made from your stock spoiler. IMO, it's not worth it.

As for the paint question, why not get an estimate from some place that paints cars? Nobody can tell you what they will charge except them. A lot of factors like if you have them paint the engine bay, door jams, etc. come into play.

Yeah color change paint jobs are really expensive...and with paint jobs a lot of time you get what you pay for...if you get a cheap paint job then its going to look like a cheap paint job....so be picky on who you would use do do the painting...ask friends who they have used around your area to figure out who the best person to go to is....

This sounds like another case of Rysus Lookridiculous. Forget that airplane wing and paint job and get some performance upgrades! Cold air intake, cat-back exhaust, start simple. Get to know your car. If you want to get it painted, start with those door handles. "Purple" or not, that paint color looks sweet as it is! BTW, that wing will just look silly if your car is slow (well, it will even if your car is fast but at least you can beat them on the street.) You could probably find a hatch in the matching paint color from a GS-T/GSX with the high spoiler on it fairly easily. It'll look much better, and its OE...no muss, no fuss. Just my :2cents:

As much as I agree with you, it's not everybodys goal to be fast. Let him do what he wants. If he wants to look good (or atleast look good to him), let him, it's his car. If he asks about performance upgrades, then you can chime in and give advice but don't shoot him down because he wants to do body mods that are maybe somewhat questionable.

You know what? You're right. Just cuz i'm not a big fan of the show car stuff, doesn't mean he cant be. Fly on with that big ass wing! J/K But really, enjoy your Eclipse man, i sure do. I traded in a 89 5.0 Mustang GT for mine, and I don't regret it.

If you're going to do a "wing swap", at least go with the high-rise turbo wing, instead of that god ugly one. You won't be able to see shit when you're backing up, and it's annoying as hell in the rear-view mirror, but if none of that bothers you, then at least go with the turbo wing. And any sort of decent paintjob will not be cheap, especially if you're looking for a complete color change.

I am with them, have you seen the 97-99 turbo hoop spoiler? They complete the body lines very well not to mention you should be able to find one thats already that color fairly easy and for pretty cheap.

The spoiler you have picked out or the 97-99 turbo spoiler, I would take it to a trusted and well recommended shop to have it put on. Getting stuff like that on straight isnt always the easiest task.
