So this kid at my girl's work has a new Civic Si and thinks he can take me (i know, rofl, right?). He's sayin how he has the factory performance package, which to MY knowledge is just a body kit, muffler, and other bs. But he's saying it came with a turbo and other stuff that he "can't put on until its out of warranty" :rolleyes: . So I told him to put money on it or else stop wasting his breath, then he says he needs "time" with his car...to which I laughed and said okay. I'm not too worried about him beating me ever, but i'm just curious if there actually is a turbo option for the performance package?

I heard of the SC version but no turbo...my RSX comes with the company SC and its like 6-8K for it haha waste of money imo. But yeah never heard of the TC version...hes BSing.

That is BS. Honda has NEVER offered a turbo for the Civic. Hell, I can count on one hand how many cars they have turbo-charged, the Civic not being one of them.

I was like,,"WHAT!" 210! for 5 grand! that must mean they dont change any internals and they will let him run like 3psi or something! then he will blow his engine after about two months! what a joke a scion is!

you make a good point. IF there is an option to install a factory turbo or SC, then when the dealer installs it, i'm sure they're pushing no more than 5psi. because if the car were to retain its warranty, the dealer wouldn't want to contribute to blowing up a car under warranty.

but ya, its a real joke what the dealerships/manufacturers call "aftermarket". for them its overpriced products that don't make much of a difference whatsoever on the car. basically, i think their mindset is to allow the customer to add a body kit and a few suspension mods that simply make it look cool, and the manufacturer can still retain its warranty.

Race for pinks, get yourself a reliable grocery getter. There is no factory turbo option that I'm aware of. 14psi and gutted precats and you'll still beat plenty of turbod civics, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Now that's confusing. Why would a factory performance package include turbos that are not installed? And if it is factory, there should be no need to worry about the waranty.:confused:

no civic is factory TC'd, the whole VTEC thing is their kicker. the closest factory turbo that has come from honda/acura is the new RDX, which is an SUV. people like to think their si's are fast because its a 160hp dohc vtec (the 99's were, i dont know about the hatchbacks...200?) that redlines at 8200. that's a lot of gear to wind through, giving an illusion of speed. no contest, get him to race and make him pay for the gas you wasted embarrassing him.

The new SI's come with 197HP. Still slow compared to the Verfer. Its about a high 14s car.

Anyways I found out the kid doesn't actually have the kit ready to go, hes "saving up" for it rofl. He says its gonna cost him $6k (bwahhaahahah..retard). I looked it up and the only turbo kit available for the new si's is made by greddy (its a T517Z turbo, whatever that means) and goes for about $3.5k on eBay and only adds 52hp according to GReddy.

6k for 52 horses??? thats just retarded. you could do a full motor swap for that much. or get some nice internals. If he has that much to play with, why in the hell didnt he get something better than a Civic in the first place???

might as well beef up the internals and get a big freaking shot of nitrous....youd get way more power for the money
