okay heres the scenario, when i turn the key to on, but dont start the car , the temp gauge instantly goes to hot!?????????????:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
i changed water pump, fan switch sensor, temp sending gauge switch, and my gauge cluster.....:shakehead
i ripped all the shrink wrap off the wiring harness and the wire conditions are normal, (no burnt/crispy wires) no severs, no exposed wires,
help!!!! anyone have a problem similar to this before ...
now keep in mind , the has been sitting and not even ran, so i know engine is cold, but when the ignition is turned to on (but not started) instantly goes to hot?????/
i also check all fuses, all are intact
what the hell can be causing this?, its about to make me crazy:screwy:
and i will not drive my car without a temp gauge

There are 2 ECT senders did you change both? One reports to the PCM and the other to your guage. I'm thinking you changed the one that has the LG/R & GV/R wires. But not the one with the W/LB & BK/W which is the one that works the dash guage. If you changed them both and the guage then you have to have a short in the wiring.
Hope this helps,
Mark

yeah i figured the same thing, that it was probably a short i couldnt see, i went and got a wiring harness from the salvage and replaced that whole damn harness, and it worked fine, i totally cut aprt the old harness and found a spot where both wires were exposed!!!!!
it worked like a charm, at least i got a gauge cluster that only read 68,000 miles :evillol: , plus since i had the gauge cluster out i put in my glo gauges shit looks tight:iceslolan

Must of been a short to power, wonder what the other wire went to. Glad to hear it's fixed. Talledega will be on soon, gotta go. :iceslolan
