Need For Speed

Why does everybody on this board care about 0-60 or 1/4 mile times. Speed is good, but handling is sooo much better. I have driven v8 and v6 with plenty of torque and speed, but they were top heavy and sloppy handlers. Let us few privledge individuals enjoy the crisp handling of or G20:D. Head for the "S" curves and the off ramps. :ylsuper :ylsuper

I agree, I've also owned straight line grunters and nowadays would rather have a car that can hold what speed it has through a corner, and stop bloody quick. I find it more fun to drive at the speed limit on bendy roads where other lesser handling cars have to slowpoke it.

Unless you specifically want to go and out accelerate someone, 16.5s 1/4 is plenty quick enough to get you out of trouble (like when your passing a truck and that Kombie van with the curtains in the windows comes over the brow of the hill at you). I would rather see better acceleration in the 80-140km/h range because of this.

Thing is.......if you got the money to throw at it............why not have both power and handling .:D :D I wouldn't sacrifice handling for power, but these days with smaller lighter engines putting out big hps, you don't have to.:cool:

The reason 0-60 and 1/4 mile times seem important is because it's standard. A 1/4 mile over here in Toronto should be the same as a 1/4 mile in Buttf**k Iowa. :) No offence to people from Toronto or Iowa for that matter. ;)

Anyway I do care about handling just as much as acceleration. It sucks plenty ass to nail a corner on a track perfectly only to have those big burly v8's and v6's pull away on you. :(

I've been a member here since G20.net has moved in and in that whole time I can count the threads on those topics in one hand.

Y agree about handling and breaking Y now my primera do it very well but is important (if you like to run 1/4)to have a little more power ,just in case.........;)

I like the G20 cuz it handles so well, and there is so much room for improvement (performance wise).......there is a huge aftermarket for the SR20DE.......in other words, i like cars that can handle with a lot of speed on the curves and straights! :)

yeah, my gf is perfectly happy whipping around corners in her tricked out miata. i liked swerving around the pch in the g20.

jason. he i take offense to you calling it b$$$f$ck iowa. its b#mf#ck, iowa. actually rural iowa is a great place to take a car fast and around corners late at nite. and when you lose control you can end up in a cornfield.

Jalterio, have you ever done a 1/4 mile run? It ain't just the times
it is a hell of a lot of fun and it is legal to do so. A run on the 1/4
can tell you how fast your car actually is compared to other cars
competing against you. I love it, and I go just to watch normally
but I will have a go once in a while.
Who are you gonna race on an offramp?? Don't you normally slow

1/4 miles may be fun, but not so much in a G. I quess you could tune it up a twenty or thirty horses, but after those expenses, you could have bought an older M3. Now that is a car for you speed demons. I enjoy taking advantage of the G20's awesome handing. I love to hunt for twistes and express ramps. Accelerating out of the corners. YES!!!!!!!!!

speaking for myself , i feel that speed is somewhat important i mean u want the car to have some sort of testicular fortitude. i mean considering our cars have a limited slip it's cool to see the car come out of a turn with some authority. Sure they might not be the fastest things out there but i'll tell u what it can hold it's own against other four cylinders in it's class, welll 1st and 2nd gear at least ,and remember the other guy most likely will have to slow down when the turn comes up but guess what u might not have too!

It's good fun doing the 1/4 in my G20. Have you given it a go, if you
haven't I recommend doing it. I completely agree the G20's handle
really well but I still reckon I should have bought a RWD Gts-t Skyline
for the twisties, now that is fun unless you spin out then its not so fun
but it'd be good while it lasted.:D

1st,2nd and 3rd is strong in the G20's 4th and 5th isn't so good

Hey do your cars have speed cuts? Mine cuts out at 180km/h.

No speed limiters on the Euro spec P11 Primera's :) I've had mine doing an indicated 140mph before... well, sort of indicated as the speedo only goes upto 135mph... :eek:

If I turbo'd it do you think I'd manage to get the needle to go all the way back round to zero again? lol :D

Anthony, do your car have the speedometer in MPH? I thought the european version was in KMh.

I have seen my primera goes over the 195KMH, and still have some more, but unfortunately I had to slow down.

Nope, my car is definately in mph, as are all UK spec Primeras

My primera is in km 220km in the tacomether the max speed that actualy I have do is 217 km and the tacomether was 223-5 km it 136mph :rocket:

yep as Anthony says all primeras in the Uk have MPH.....the GT ones show upto 140mph...although max I have done, carryin 4 passengers at the time was 124 mph....around 200 kmh.....there was room for more as well.....:D::jump:
