2000 monte carlo ss pace car, 80000 miles
Ok, well i put one post on here and then my car actually starts to have a
problem, weird, anyway, i was leaving to go to work tonight, i started up my
monte and i put it in gear, i had to turn out from behind a car, it seemed then
like the car lost some power and the power steering was kind of tough, then,
i start going and tried to rev the engine up, you know, just give it some
gas and it just tries to stall, then i started going up hill and it just barely
moved and sputtered then died, i had the radio working, the lights and
everything. I tried to start it again, it turned over well but wouldn't start.
There did seem to be alot of dimming of the lights when it was running. I
think that it is the alternator, any advice would be great, thanks.

Is the CEL (Check Engine Light) on? If yes, pull the codes and post to narrow it down. if no, try a shot of wd-40 or carb cleaner in the throttle body. If it starts then dies, your problem is fuel related. If not, you may have lost spark due to a bad crank sensor, ignition module, etc...

Of course, if the engine does not start, the "Check Engine" lamp will be on, and there may be no error codes stored. That is normal, and may not be helpful in diagnosing this problem.
The description sounds typical of a fuel delivery problem. I wonder if this is related to your fuel level sensor issue.
Evidently, it didn't occur on the road, and the car is not stranded somewhere. Make sure you can hear the fuel pump run its two-second prime cycle when the ignition is turned on. Check for fuel pressure at the fuel rail test port. Make sure the SECURITY lamp is not flashing while you are attempting to start the engine.

I was referring to the whether the CEL came on when the problem started. Scanning the car and posting the codes would narrow down our criteria to suggest help.
From the symptom description, it could be a locked up serpentine belt driven accessory that freed up when it cooled down, battery, battery cable/connection, etc...
