how do i change my fuel filter?

When i start my car-it runs for about 2 seconds then quits-im assuming its the fuel filter cause ill be really pissed if its the f*****g pump, so can, and how do i change the fuel filter on a 1999 sunfire 2.2 liter.

if it was the pump it wouldnt start at all, there are 100 different things it could be, not sure whats making you think its the fuel filter but here you go:

1. relieve fuel system pressure, do this by disconnecting the connector from the fuel pump, then starting the car and just wait till the engine dies (believe it or not this is what the haynes manual says)
2. raise the vehicle and support it securely (jack stands maybe)
3. the fuel filter is located on the side of the right frame rail in front of the fuel tank
4. clean any dirt surrounding the fuel inlet and outlet line fittings
5. twist the quick connect fitting 1/4 turn in each directing to loosen the seal, push the fuel line into the filter, depress the white plastic tabs and pull the fuel like from the filter, using a flare nut wrench, loosen the flare nut fitting
6. remove the filter from the clamp

when reinstalling you should apply a few drops of clean engine oil into the quick connect fitting before pressing it onto the filter

what else do u think it could be- cause i want to fix it myself,i dont exactly have a load of money right now...but i have no idea what it could be

Mine did it when my instrument cluster wasn't plugged in..but that's a pretty obvious thing to do...so I'm pretty sure it's not that....does it like, stutter stutter die? or is it just like start....vroom...dead.

yeah..so its a 1996 cavalier z24 body..but the 2.4 engine blew up-so we put a 2.2 from a 1999 sunfire in there-it was a quick cheap fix i guess....and so far ive changed the feul pump, filter, and and oil sensor, and checked the ignition shit but still cant figure the bitch out so..any suggestions would be great-thanks
