Racing season is just about gone

Which really sucks :crying:. I was hanging up some fuzzy dice in my car (seriously-they look awesome BTW, :grinyes:) and fighting with that head liner that's in it and as I was settin in the seat it dawned on me that this season is just about gone.
I think the track I've been running at has 9 more races scheduled, but with the weather this time of the year, they'll be lucky to get half of those in, and regardless, I won't be able to make all 9.
Another track that I'm wanting to get to atleast once has 5 more races scheduled.
I think my local track (the 330 ft one, also one that I haven't been too since July, lol) may be closed for the season, soooo, its looking like my year is about wrapped up. This surely has been a wierd year for me. Started out in Casper, tore it up, then went over a month without as much as settin in racecar, drove my uncles car a couple times, and now I have a brand new car that I'm really still learning (only run it 3 races, 4 if you count a gamblers race held at a test n tune session, which I won :grinyes:).
I'm not sure if I'll be racing this weekend or not. Definetly will be running next weekend (Oct. 14) though. After that though, I just dont really know.

Hell, my race season is just about to begin. It was 90 degrees here yesterday, but its 79 today getting down into the low 60s/high 50s at night. All of the street cars are just now starting to get out. I should have my truck back on the street this weekend.

my racing season is about to begin. i like to race people in the snow, with cones in a parking lot. lets just say thats really fun till the cops pull up and tell is to go somewhere else doing that, as its an abandoned/closed down school that this parking lot is at.

It's still at 92 today where I'm at, the nights are still in the 70s, so we still have a good amount of race time left.

Next Saturday very well could be my last time out. I hope not, but its hard to say really.

I'm a little bit jealous, because I just dont have anything fast to drive every day, lol. My new truck sounds the part, lol, but well, its a 5300 lbs truck, lol.
When's the last time you took the 'Rado to the track??? Or shoot, even the Camar'??? lol.

Last time for the truck was October of last year(damn, it doesn't seem that long ago, eh?) It ran a 7.40@93 1/8th before the tranny gave up the battle.
Last time was for the camaro was a few months ago. Last pass on it was a 12.60 on street tires in 90 degree weather. That was on the 75 shot.
I got the new tranny in the truck this past weekend. I'm working out a few bugs that have come up being that it hasn't really been driven hard in a year. I think its going to the track Saturday night, because frankly I can't take it anymore. :iceslolan

I got a hell of a deal on anther built 60e. The builders exact words were, "please try to break it, we're trying to see exactly what the 4l60e will take." So, that's exactly what I'm going to do. :grinyes: It feels GREAT so far. Feels like the best tranny so far, as far as firmness/overall driving.

A lot of tracks will let ya run the time trial rounds without paying the extra money to enter the race. That might be a thought.
Or you could just quit being a pussy and enter a race :grinyes:!

LOL. Ahh, got to start somewhere though, lol. I don't know how you do on the tree, but if you're even half way decent, then you WILL go rounds in the street car class.
Now don't try and enter the "Pro" class (since you're at an NHRA track, some tracks though call that class "Bracket 2" or "Foot Brake" or "Modified" or "Non-Electronics").
You wouldn't have to worry about entering my class ("Super Pro" at NHRA tracks, "Bracket 1", "Pro", or "Top ET" at other tracks). I dont think your car would meet the requirements (usually 0-7.49 in the 1/8th OR 0-11.49 in the 1/4-they don't always enforce that rule though), but even if you could make the time, you would be crazy to pay $45 or $50 to enter a race against full blown race cars with all the electronics. I mean to win a round, you pretty much either have to have a .00x light OR run dead on your dial in. You can fudge a little on the tree or the dial in (by a little, I mean .03x at the absolute most), but if you cut a .03x light and run .03x off your dial, you're going home or buying back in 99 times out of a 100!

I have outran PRO class cars at the T&T nights.
But they would knock me out I am sure.
Not the greatest tree...but normally around the .100 or better light. Last two times down the track I redlighted by .012. Same each time.
The hardest part for me is the fact that I race with a 6-speed. I am just not consistent.

well, .100 would be pretty decent in the street car classes. Now there's a few "ringers" in there that like to enter that class to run the 1/4 (there's this one track I go to on occasion that runs Top ET and Modified ET (would be Super Pro and Pro at NHRA tracks) in the 1/8th mile only but their Street Car class runs the 1/4-and usually, that's how it is at all 1/4 tracks-the top 2 bracket classes just run an 1/8th, but the street class and bikes run the 1/4).
But yeah, I think you could go a few rounds if you could cut close to .100 light every time. Even if you don't run your numbers. Becuase the biggest majority of the guys in the street car classes are just their to have fun with their vehicles. They usually do good to cut .2 or .3 lights and you'll see them run tenths, not hundredths, off their dial ins, lol. Thing about it is, if you can beat them on the tree, then you've got some wiggle room on the big end.
And yeah, the PRO classes usually don't have a speed requirement, but the guys in that class are usually pretty serious racers that either don't have a fast enough car to run SUPER PRO OR don't want to fool with a delay box OR don't want to pay the extra $10 or $15.
And I'm not saying this because I run SUPER PRO or TOP ET or BRACKET 1 (its actually just called PRO where I've been racing, lol.), but it is harder to win in the top bracket class. I'm telling ya, the last time I raced, in the 2nd round, I cut an .016 light and went a 6.831 on a 6.83 dial and got beat! Now that's uncommon to loose with a run like that, but it does happen!

DA = 7250 (per accuweather)
.354 light (focusing more on the launch RPM than the light)
60' - 1.696
330 - 4.991
1/8 - 7.709 at 89.78
1000 - 10.59
1/4 - 12.010 at 116.72
Came outta the hole at 4000 RPM's. Felt like it bogged again a little.
Friend claims the drivers side came up just a touch on that one.

That's what we want, get em up a little. Dont want to get them up a lot though.
You might try about 4600 rpms. I think thats what my car leaves on (I'll look and tell ya for sure in the next day or two). You get too high though and you'll just spin. Going by your 60' though, it looks like 4000 is about right.
Just going from my experience (granted, different setups), that 60' should have got ya in the 4.80 range in the 330, and about 7.50-60 in the 1/8th. But like you say, you had a high DA and a head wind, which probably hurt ya worse then anything.
