Which engine do you have, the 12V (Vulcan) or the Duratech (24V DOHC)? Are you wanting to swap in the SHO V-6 or the SHO V-8?

Assuming the Gen 3 SHO V-8, there are numerous other items you'll need to take into account if you do the swap, such as suspension components to support the added weight, PCM, VAPS power steering, PATS system from the donor programmed to the PCM, and while you have the SHO engine out, you'd want to have the cams welded if you aren't sure that's been done.

By the time you're done, you'd probably be better off to buy a decent used SHO.

If you have the vulcan engine, go to a junkyard and get one if you have to, it would be a shame to waste an otherwise good Taurus on it. Plus, vulcan Taurses are very plentiful in junkyards.

What leads you to believe that it's a blown motor?
