hello. last week i bought a new head unit, Pioneer http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product.asp?product=21480 i have a 15" Punch stange 2 sub (500w) with a box to match the specs. and i drive it with a db Drive amp (360w) i know im almost underpowering it but the bass is incredible. i had a DUAL head unit for a year. haha yes u read right a DUAL. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-bspKffJ3UV9/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=300&I=070XDMR77 it lacked about all of any features but the thing is the music quality was amazing. when play music thru that head unit at any volume it sounds booming. even up untill recently when the opening mechanism broke i would still get headaces and sometimes have 2 turn the bass down (didnt have a bass controller so i fadded the rear out haha) so i bought the pioneer because it has a lot of features to mess with it, hard drive controller HPF and all. but the sound quality is a let down compared to the DUAL. im gonna attempt to draw out an example. the DUAL bass was like ~~~ where the Pioneer bass was more like /\/\/\/ the Pioneer gets louder but im more about quality and with the DUAL the deck speakers hit highs better and the DUAL even had a better bass freq. i have till tuesday to return the pioneer and get another player for no charge or pay the difference. they say alpine is better quality http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product.asp?product=20757 what do you think? will it be better quality or should i stick with what i got. i dont want to go back to DUAL, ever. but if i cant find that same quality i dont know. PLEASE SAVE ME. :) thanks.

btw: sorry for the long post. but i figured there are a lot of disbelievers that my DUAL head unit had better quality than this Pioneer.

it was probably the way you had the Pioneer set. HPF stands for high pass filter, if you had it set to like 45 Hz - it blocks all bass below 45 Hz. With more features comes more complexity in set up.
