93 olds Achieva just turns off after running fine!!

I have a 93 Achieva with a 2.3 Quad OHC that i am working on for a friend. the problem is that after a small period of time running( 5-15 mins ) the car will just DIE like the key was turned off. No sputtering, missing, or any other signs. After another period of time the car will "RE-SPAWN", and will start right up like nothing ever happend. I have already replaced the Ignition Control Module, Ignition Electrical Switch, Spark plugs. My next suspects are the Coils and the Crank Position Sensor. It was also suggested that this condition be caused by a crack in the plastic coil housing. Is this true? Since this motor has little Spark plug wires it is difficult to see if they are sparking. My friend that owns the car said that he had a similar problem about 2 years ago and he had it "rigged" by a "mechanic" as a temporary fix. He mentioned that the mechanic did something under the steering collum. I dissassembled the covers on the steering collum and found that everthing looked normal with the exception of one wire that had melted the insulation off. it plugs into the Ignition Electrical Switch. it is a small thin black wire that appears to be a ground(but i am not sure). It doesnt seem to be affecting the condition of the engine running or not since when i ground the wire out it has no effect. Also when the "mechanic" fixed the problem the first time, my friend lost power to his interior lights and also his rear tail lights or blinkers. The Service Engine Soon light does not come on so i dont think it is the CPS causing the problem. If any one can help me it would be greatly appreciated.
