Any one had any experience doing this? I checked the fuses and they are all A-OK so I'm thinking it must be the lighter itself.

it can either be the lighter itself or the lead prongs inside the actual thing that you put the cigarette light in ( dont know the name of it) on mine those were bend inwards so they werent getting a good connection. I got a flat screwdriver and bent them outward so they made contact with the leads on the cigarette lighter

I got a good look inside and it actually looks like part of one of the prongs is missing which would keep the connection from being made. So how hard is it to replace this thing myself? Anyone had it done at a shop and know the cost?

I've never had it replacesd but if you took it to a shop im sure it wouldnt cost too much lol i'd say like 10 for the part and like 5 for labor at most. Call midas or whoever your auto mechanic is and ask. Good luck!
