How many bed sizes?

When I went to buy a tonneau cover I found out that I don't have a short bed or a long bed on my 04 Silvy 2500 crew cab. I was told by two venders it's 5'8" or 8', but mine is 81" (6'9"). Just wondering how many people have a 5'8" bed? Do I have an odd ball truck? Or,,, are there two tonneau mfg that don't know Jack?

i know the crew cabs have a different size bed than a exteneded cab or a regular cab. i dont know the lengths, but i thought they made the 5'8 6'0 and 8'0

There are 3 different sizes 5'8, 8' and 6 1/2'. If you have an extended cab or regular cab then u either hav a 6.5 or 8' depending on whether its a short box or long box. The 5'8 beds are only on the 1500 non-hd crew cabs.

I have a 2500HD Crew Cab. My bed length is 6'9" (81").
When I bought my first cover, the parts store showed me the application chart for the covers. The chart listed only one (1) cover for a 2004 2500HD crew cab, and it specified a 5'8" bed for that truck. At that point I hadn't measured my bed but knew it wasn't 8' long so I ordered that cover. After the cover came in and it didn't fit I measured my bed. So then I called a cover manufacturer and found the cover I needed by the length. I believe it might have been listed for a 1999-2002 standard cab short bed. Anyway,,, it fits.

Be careful though; Model year is also used for paint matching.

My shell color was off because they changed the light gray paint color from 2002 to 2003 and ASSumed it was a 2003 cause I bought it in 03.
