Okay so I've had this problem for a while now. My check engine light is on the code reads the my "EGR Valve doesn't get enough air circulation. I replaced it and the problem went awy for half a day, then the same code came up. So I bought another Valve and this time before I swaped th valves I had the intake and everything else cleaned out (except my fuel injectors.) My car is still performing badly whe accelerating and occasionally stalls while driving. The same code is still on, I think it might be one of the small hoses that connect the EGR Valve and Solenoid, if so where can I get them?
Help will be much appreciated, Thanks.

To check the vacuum solenoid put a vacuum gage on the air line to the egr valve. Gun the motor good and you should get vacuum to the gage. If no vacuum put the gage on the inlet to the solenoid if no vacuum clean the vacuum port on the engine.
The ford dealer and napa should sell the vacuum solenoid.
Any parts store should sell vacuum hose.

Yeah, the solenoid was bad so replaced it but I am still getting the code saying the EGR Valsve does not get enough air. I haven't found the hose/hoses that connect to those componenets, are they sold anywhere?
Thanks.
Thanks.

The ford egr valves have a habit of plugging up a friends 97 was so bad he had to drill it out. Normally it can be removed with an air hose. This is the opening to the valve.

Please post the exact code number. Seems like you are chasing a circle trying to find a problem. A code number will allow us to pinpoint a test that can help you fix the problem.

I'm getting the code right now to see what the problem is. What do you mean by drilling out the EGR Valve? what part on the valve would I have to drill?
Any help is apreciated.

Got it, the code is 401. I think i should also mention that my elecetronic odometer flickers on and off. I don't know if that has anything to do with my problem but I figure I better mention it.
Thanks again for any help.

When the egr valve is unbolted the hole backside of the opening to the valve was plugged. This is the reason he was not getting flow was because it was plugged. Ford mechanics normally blow out this opening when they change the valve. Fords counterman warns you about this when you purchase a valve.
I wasn't aware of your other problem. But I definately know a blocked opening to the valve will set a code. On my 1997 5.4L I removed the egr valve and cleaned out the opening with an air hose. Then I replaced the DPFE sensor and this cleared the code.
I have an OTC 4000E with an 02 Deuce module so I can check my own codes.
The latest wiring diagram I have is 1997 but it shows the computer grounds are at the rear of engine compt.right side of cowl panel and lower left cowl panel. Check they are clean and tight.

I believe my mechanic cleaned out something that had deal with the intake. But I will make sure, I will clean it out myself to see what happens. I imagine your ride became significantly better.
