Door Open showing on dash

Has anyone come across this kind of a problem? At the odometer, it constantly shows that a door is open... I checked the fuses, but they seem to be fine. Also, the interior dome light stays on when the car is running. The sign and the light go off a few minutes after I turn off the engine and leave the car, but they come back again as soon as I open the driver's door. I also checked the little switches on the doors (the little buttons that the doors push when closed) but they seem to be fine too - I took some from a local junkyard and replaced the original ones, but that didn't help. Any ideas what could be wrong? Thanks.

Might have an exposed wire under the dash somewhere. That happened to me. I couldn't figure out why my dome light would just pop on while driving.
