I'm feeling like wasting some text here, so what the hey?

I'm too lazy to pull up the schematic, but very high odds of your very simplistic attempt will not work. The 2 wires from the distributor are most likely a VR "cam sensor" that is in the distributor. This feeds the stock computer and along with the crank sensor, gives the computer enough info for the computer to tell the coil when to fire.

In short, without a computer and required sensors, forget it. Won't work.

The obvious answer would be to hook up enough of the original system to get the ignition working again via the stock computer.

unclebob there is no crank trigger sensor on the engine only a pickup in the dist and thats where the two wires come from so why cant it work from a separete coil and ignition box like msd or chrysler ???????????

according to alldata, you are correct, the sensor in the distributor has 3 signals per revolution, there is no crank sensor.

Have you called MSD yet? The car obviously wouldn't be in the catalogs, but they might be able to set you up with something to work.

one other option is to find a non-electronic 1.0L ignition....they used nothing but an igniter in the distributor and fired the coil directly. Also had vacuum advance. I'm assuming the distributors are interchangable.

unclebob does your all data cross any engine that would run that non electronic ign. or maybe some one else reading these post knows just a shot i w ill try to post ya a picture of what its powering a one liter hdroplane 13 foot long just restored to run at vintage shows pete

alldata doesn't specify what years were carbed. But thats what you're looking for....a carb'd 1.0L
