No Spark?

I'm trying to help a friend with his 1986 Dodge 6000. Car turns over but doesn't start. I checked the coil wire from the coil by holding it to a ground while cranking. No Spark. Replaced the coil with a new one. Didn't help. Then replaced the cap, rotor and wires. Still no spark!! The only thing I can thing of is the pickup coil in the distributor but then that wouldn't keep the coil from producing a spark right? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

I guess you replaced the coil wire, correct? Did you check for primary voltage at the coil? The primary wires are the two small wires. With the engine cranking they should be hot, anything? If you use a test-lite, the negative primary should pulse, or brighten and dim, with the engine cranking. The positive side may brighten and dim also, but it should be more noticeable on the negative primary, anything?

If you got nothing at the coil primaries, is there a hall switch in the dist? If there are three wires coming from the dist., the gray wire should have a dc pulse with the engine cranking, the other wires should be ref voltage and ground.

I should have asked your engine size? Were there any codes? I believe the info I looked at was for a non-turbo 2.5.
