Update: jdm tails and vtec centerpiece just arrived

Getting closer to my goal of transforming my 88 Civic DX hatch to jdm SiR...I will post pics soon once I figure out how to replace my stock tails and center garnish. I'm too excited about the delivery so I posted it right away...:D

Ive changed my tails. Gimmie a buzz if ya want some help :)

I know how to do the side pieces but the center piece is a bitch to get off (From what I have heard)

yea i've heard that. I've only changed the lens never had to try to do the center garnish....

i had to break the plastic clip on the back to get the center peice off

Me? Transforming my '88 GL to an SiR was easier... I sold it :D

yeah i aint got not fancy motor or nothing, but i screwed up my stock tails so i got a set of jdm ones. it was like christmas tripple the excitement! Did you have to bend the metal for the 90-91 tails, since you have an 88-89? i did but oh well, jeust curious.?.?... then they kept leaking on me! i still am battling that fight but small holes in the bottom of it may of finally cleared it up. i hope...its like ahhhh theyre soo sweettt!!!

Sorry, I wasnt able to login last night...Had to take care of my little girl...Anyway, Yeah, I could use some help putting in those tails. I'm not too happy with the center garnish though...Civic emblem is a bit faded and there's a hairline crack on one side (hardly noticeable) but I know its there...I was briefly looking on how I would install it and looks like I may have to remove the inside panel.

When i took my center piece out all the nuts broke off! :eek:

I am jealous your project is alot farther than mine :( But my front conversion will be on sometime this month :) so be expecting that!!!! Have you decided on the lip spoiler yet? I think I am going to order the J's racing lip pretty soon.

No...I think I'll stay with just the stock jdm parts. Front lip looks good though, dont you think? Next item up for bid, jdm rear seats and rear skirts/lip.:D

It is JDM :D J's racing is a Japanese manufactor the import those lip spoilers to the US... Good luck finding the rear lip that is incredibly hard to find... :(

I know....but my brother who's serving in the Navy used to be stationed in Japan. He may know a few peeps that can find this piece for me, as my last resort.:D

I couldnt wait any longer, so I took the day off and installed the rear tails and center garnish...Wiring is easy. Used an ECU pin tool and took out the wires on the jdm plugs, matched the wires and transfered them one by one...only mod that I have to do is to shave part of the metal grill. One of the brake light bulb is hitting the metal grill so it wont flush. I took it out temporarily and shave it later on...

Also i have been trying to get those SIR side skirts and rear bumper lip for like a year and no luck.:(

When I checked the logo closely, the Civic logo did not actually fade but has a slight gold'ish shade and the Vtec garnish is a sticker like all the rest of em...I will get a closer pic next time... I'm working on a pair of jdm front and rear seats that this person in San Francisco is selling for $500...I have yet to see them but hopefully it pushes through. :flash:

jdm front and rear :) personally i'd probably keep those recaros and use the JDM rears... Then you could sell the front to a local 4th gen buddy who needs some new seats *hint hint* :flash:

Yeah, Ok...Not counting chicks yet, but he's suppose to email me today to give me his address...He said someone is suppose to look at it today, cross your fingers that its not sold yet. I'm not too eager for it anyway, $500 is a lot of money. My rear seats looks good anyway and I dont usually sit back there:D I wonder if you can just put a similar kind of headrest to the rear seats?

88CiViC_DX: What color is your interior, and how fucked up is your front passenger seat? Cause my headrest pokes into the passenger's back:eek: So if you DO get new seats from EF_LSVteC or something lemme know.

September 13, cant wait. Nemo_Wolf is riding with me cause he isnt sure his car will make it (91 LX Auto @ 250,000 miles)

My passenger seat is the only seat in my car that is not messed up....:( all the rest have sun damage and tears....

Melt.. Ya i cant wait either. :D At least Nemo is still going. I didnt know his 4dr had sooo many miles, I saw it at the lil bay area meet we had and it was in pretty nice condition for having so many miles. One of my friends is gonna ride with me. When was the bay area meet? Oh yea, it was in richmond or something and I couldnt go cause my mom was being a bitch and my dad was tripping cause its the "ghetto". Plus my grandma had just died so my mom was shook up about that also. But I was able to sell my 15" rims that weekend which i needed to do to pay for tranny work so I guess its all gravy. I also converted my car to a uni-wiper that weekend and rolled like that for like a month, then resprayed the wiper arms black, and put em both back on.

it was may 19th. you didnt miss much. it had rained all morning so most people did not show.

How bad are your front seats 88civic_dx? My wife put seat covers on the hatch for the longest time, thats why they're still in good condition. To think that I just gave away my stock front seats a while back too...should have kept it and gave em to you instead. If you would consider putting seat covers, I can order them from the Philippines for really cheap...like less than $20. They come in different colors like white or grey. I'll keep my eye out for a pair of decent seats for you though...:flash:

thanks though. I got a set of seat covers. Only way ill get new ones is that if they are front and rear matching :) but if you can find some seats it would be great :flash:

The skirts are impossible to find!!!! So is the rear bumper! but oh well I am looking into custom fabricating some wanna be SiR skirts :) and I would be happy with just the rear lip :D

I'm keeping my fingers crossed QuicksilverEF9...I'll order a set of 2 if i find em...:D

Order 3 please if you find 'em - my original rear lip has a tear in it.

I'm stilltrying to find spare front and rear lips - not to mention the side ones. Stockpiling parts "just in case"
