I Put My 1995 Prelude In The Shop To Have The Engine Rebuilt 2 Months Ago. I Called The Mechanic Last Friday To Check The Progress And He Said He Put The Engine Back In But Now The Car Won't Start. Well Today, 3 Days Later, He Still Doesn't Know What Is Wrong! Now He Is Saying That The Car Must Not Have Ran When We Sent It To Him. But It Did, We Had It Towed To Him Because It Was Getting Hot. Does Anyone Know If There Is Something Special You Have To Do To Maybe Reset The Computer Or Something? He Tried Changing The Distributor But That Didn't Do Any Good. He Says It Is Electrical And He Says That When He Tries To Crank It, It Won't Fire. Please Help With Some Advice Or Suggestions Concerning This Problem. I Would Like To Have My Car Back!!!

Yah, sorry it is hmotorsonline.com, and if the hood is in really good condition, I would say about $300.

redpreludeowner - Did your mechanic check for spark? Did he make sure fuel is being delivered? Did he set the timing correctly? There's a whole list of things that could be wrong. Maybe the biggest problem is the mechanic - you should find a new one. A mechanic that blames you for bringing in a dead car instead of troubleshooting the problem for himself...isn't a real mechanic.

I agree, A good mechanic should be able to diagnose this problem. There are so many things that he could have done to make this car not start. Take the car to a good mechanic. Remember, you get what you pay for. If you use a cheap mechanic, you will get cheap repairs. By no means are you the only person who is going through this. I personally have had to go behind many mechanics who have messed up cars. Sorry this has happened to you, bad mechanics give good mechanics a bad name. And that sucks.
