Can anyone explain why everyone says to set the AFC to 2 cylinders on DSMs?

I had to set mine to 4 cylinders... on 2 it was showing double the rpms... on 4, it is fine

do you have an eeprom?
I noticed you're a 2nd gen...

Mine is a 1st ('91)... I did notice that my ECU stays on for a/b 30 seconds after the car has been cut off... but my friend's has an EEPROM and his cuts off instantly... his is set to 2 cylinders... is that the difference?
