89 escort turn signal switch

Is there any easy way to get the turn signal multi-function switch to come out of the steering column? I was able to get the two torx bolts a tthe top and bottom, and I got the two big plugs on the back, but I couldn't figure out how to get the stalk colme loose. Incidently, I have the tilt steering wheel, so it only has the one stalk which does everything rather than two simpler stalks. Any help would be great.
