advance timming?

i have herd a lof of people advancing their timming. is that something to do on a stock 04 max? if so can i get it done at the dealer? and what do you have your timming advanced to?

Can be done on 'any' engine. Stock cars have timing optimized for global markets = broad safety limits. Too early ignition will destroy the engine due to more heat and/or because of detonation stresses break bearings, piston rods etc. I guess stealerships havent got bits available for the mod.
Few degrees advance generally increase pwr and can be done safely, however the vehicle isnt for blondies after that... Higher octane gas needed etcetc. The issue is lenghthy, pls educate uself before doing or lettin anybody modify anythin. Couple of links:

i had mine advanced from 15 degrees to 17. just ask the dealership to do it, mine did it for free. you can set your timing anywhere between 15-20 degrees BTDC and not void your warranty. keep in mind that you're going to have to run premium grade gas only from now on.
