My car has been fluctuating and dying when I press the gas to accelerate after it's warmed up. It doesn't happen everytime it's warm, but happened this past Friday. I was talking to one guy and he said he would try and replace the coolant temp sensor. Does that sound right?

3.1 65k miles automatic transmission

The car has a new fuel pump, filter and fuel sensor.

The problem here sounds like something other than a temp sensor. I would check the fuel pressure under load to make sure it is getting adequate pressure. The regulator may be bad. Second check the throttle position sensor. It may be sending the wrong signals to the computer and not allowing the car to run properly.

It doesn't happen all time. It happened yesterday on the freeway when I tried to pass someone. It just didn't have any power when I pressed the gas. So I pulled over for a couple of minutes and the problem went away.

BTW...I'm not throwing a check engine light either.
