Fuel Filter 97 F150

hi all im working on a 97 f150 and cannot seem to figure out how to release the connectors on the fuel filter, ive tried everything i could think of with those metal clips with no success. any help is apreciated

The same tools that you use on the spring lock couplings on ac lines will work on most filters. Your local auto parts store should have them in a set, for around 8~10$ . If not , you can fabricate one pretty easy. The plastic on most 5 gal buckets is just about the right thickness. Cut some in strips about 1/2 ~3/4 " wide, put it in boiling water to soften it, and form it around something the same dia, cut it to length to just fit around the line. Push it in till it bottoms out, and you should be able to slide the line apart easily, if the steel clips arent already deformed. You shouldnt have to force it, they come apart easy, when properly depressed. If you bend the clips, then you got a problem.
