The evil side comes out with the jetta

So I took the Jetta out cause musashi's wife has been borrowing it and it seemed to have developed a coolant leak (we found the problem so I gotta go buy a new hose, it's not a major leak and it took a good 2 weeks to a month to empty the reservoir). So as my way if testing the car I needed to drive it a bit hard, as I'm driving to go pick up my fiance from work I run into a highschool friend of mine, she's in the car with her boyfriend, who drives an Altima 2.5. She says hi to me and I guess that pisses him off so when we get onto the highway he takes off like a bat out of hell. I figure, whatever and pay not much attention.
Out of no where a new 4 cylinder eclipse comes out and starts pacing me and takes off so I follow him up to 110, then I match him as we end up next to the altima. I slow down a bit to match the Altima who was going 90-100 and then I punch it again dropping down to 3rd redlining it and then shifting to 4th, I shoot past the altima as he tries to keep up and catch back up to the eclipse. I pass the eclipse while going 120-125, I wasnt noticing how fast I was actually going till I happened to look down at my speedo, so I figured that was enough, since I covered about 6 miles in less than 5 minutes(exagerrating a bit) So I slowed down and that was the end of it.

The hell kinda gearing your Jetta have to drop at about 90 mph into 3rd, and then to redline it to pop into 4th??
Anyway, an easy pick up for you I imagine in the Jetta. Spicy...

2nd gear goes to about 68 in the jetta, 3rd goes to about 95-100, I dropped gear so I get my boost kicking in and I dont over boost not so much as to gain momentum cause I already had it going, just wanted the boost back.
Also I have a huge 4th gear that the top is 140mph so to me my gearing in the jetta is weird as well, maybe it was a factory freak.

15 sec. factory freak...
j/k.
Yeah, the gearing does sound pretty odd. But, meh, VW made it the way it is for a reason right? Nice races.

lol, yeah, I guess 1-3 is for accelleration and 4th is for top end, 5th must be so I can save gas at 140 MPH?????

if you can reach those speeds then VW just made the gears long for economy

since I covered about 6 miles in less than 5 minutes(exagerrating a bit) So I slowed down and that was the end of it.
If you were traveling at 120-125mph, you would of covered the 6 miles in roughly two and half minutes. But judging that you had to accelerate up to that speed, It's safe to say you did it in 3 minutes to 3 mintues 15 seconds. Now, factor in decelation for the upcoming exit, I'd put the distance traveled in about 3 minutes 45 seconds. Still, that's still scootin right along.
Of course, thats if you factor in that you held it pinned for over at least 3-4 miles to make up for acceleration time. But who and the hell races for 3 miles straight?
I still say you're within your initial guesstimate of under 5 minutes, easily. Good run.
Based off of 60mph = 1 mile per minute.

Good kill on the eclipse and Altima. That's really cool that you have two cars. It's always good to have a beater, that way you can keep your pride and joy for a longer period of time.

I want a 140 mph beater....Gotian, how much do you think you have into the Jetta to make it run as well as it does? Also have you ever run up on one of those GTP Grand Prix in your Jetta?
I wish I could drive 125 mph safely from home to Charlotte. Would make for a shorter commute....

Actually the jetta can do that stock, I didnt change the gearing just increased the power which helps me to accelerate faster.
Also the RX-8 is my daily, the jetta will soon be my track car when my fiance gets another car in about 6 months to a year. as for the grand prix GTP, no I havent raced one, mainly because they arent very common in miami and plus they are pretty heavy cars and the fact they only come in auto doesnt help much. I wouldnt mind racing one though.
And considering my job is 8.4 miles from my house and I can get there in about less than 7 mins going about 80 when I get onto the highway, with the traffic I had that day (which was pretty much none).
