I installed the deck but when I pop in a DVD movie I get this message; something about it's illegal for the driver to watch the movie. then it says something about engaging the parking (emergency) brake. after further reading of the instructions of the radio...it says to hook up the pink wire to the brake switch. where do i locate the brake switch and how do i hook it up to it?

When I tried to find the answer to your question it seems like this is a safety feature and the forum wont allow discussing messing with it. Run a search on 7thgencivic.com and see what you find, I came up empty. Seems like people knew the answer but they only used PM not the forum to discuss. OR maybe someone one else will kno here sorry.

The problem you are describing is a common thing, and it is a law ordained mandate.
When the vehicle is in motion, the DVD will not play because the manufacturer of the player is releasing their liability if you were to get into an accident with the player playing a DVD movie while the car is in motion.
That you need to do is to hook up that wire you were talking about, to the signal wire on the emergency/parking brake that is the indicator on the gauge cluster.
If you do not know which wire it is, either consult a Hyanes or Chilton's manual on your car, or use a test light to find which wire is hot when the parking brake is engaged.
