No Spark

I am trying to get my 1992 Cabriolet running again. Two years ago it just quit at a stop light. Will turn over, but will not start. I have been through all required procedures to check for spark at the ignition coil and module, have checked voltage at hall sender, ignition coil/module, and checked spark plug wires. I have purchased a used ecu, but no luck. My question is "does the spark require a functional ecu or can their still be spark without an ecu? Any help will do. Thanks!

Since my last reply I ordered another ignition coil and now have spark, but no fuel. I pulled the fuel pump from the tank and tried to power it up. It is dead and now I need another pump, but I have one minor problem. I cannot find a picture of a pump to know how it connects to the sending unit. One hose was still intact, but the other was not. Do you know where I can get a picture of the sending unit with pump attached? Thank you,
