Anybody got a fix for a whinning power steering pump short of changing it. Noise increases and decreases with gas. Always there to one degree or another. Fluid is topped off and belt is tight. Someone suggested putting a small amount of engine oil in it. Not sure how that would effect the steering gear. Does a fluid change have a chance of fixing it? Appreciate any suggestions.

I had a noisy pump and in my case(01 caravan) a fluid change fixed it.But I remember reading somewhere that there is a screen that gets clogged and causes low fluid flow, and others have just changed the hose that goes to the pump from the reservoir and that too cured it.
