550 HP with 537 ft-lbs of torque. It ran a 12.5 at 119 mph with street tires. Could not hook up. I can't run slicks because he will twist the car in half. I need to put a roll cage or some body strenghening kits on it.

I see you are doing some road racing, you have a 4 speed top loader?
What cam, heads, block, intake, carb are you running?

Its a 418 cubic inch 351. The block actually came out of a Lightening Truck. I think though down the line I want to put a Sportsman block in it and switch to fuel injection. I will try to post some interior pics in a while, I need to find a digital camera. Stay tuned.

Yep, when it comes to power there is no replacement for displacement:D
Now for handling thats a different ball game all together.

Have you worked anything on the suspension? I'm looking at getting better cornering out of my 65 Coupe... Using KYB shocks, monte-carlo bar and stiffer springs but it still handles, well like cars handled in the 60's.... What are you using?

KYBs are crap. Get some Koni Yellows, they rock. Also from what I know the front geomotry of the old Stangs are really not that bad, its those damn leaf springs that well get you. What spring rate are you at right now. I am still learning, so I might be way off base, 66 should be a lot more insightful than I.

Front Suspension is stock for now, I want to go to coil overs in the new future. I haven't road raced it yet but I really want to. I use Cal Trak Bars in the rear. They hook up very nice. Alot of people have coil overs all the way around but I think the best setup is Cals in the back and Coils in the front.

No this isn't mine but it could be yours. They are running Cal Trak bars. Notice how he has hooked beautifully.:D

Look at the back tires, they are wrinkling. Boy that has to be bad for the tires.:D

See if you hooked up that good and you didn't have any kind of roll cage or strenghening kits, the body would look like the tires.

My wife drives a 66 mustang coupe. It still had the factory, staight sick:D ,I mean six until it decided to puke a rod through the oilpan, but it still started and moved on five cylinders. It needs some work, but she drove it every day.I currently built a .40 over 302 for it'with some help from my brother and father inlaw. You can't beat the way the old mustangs look.

I would like to build a 351W to put in my 66 fastback. Did you have to make any changes to the engine compartment? Would their be enough clearance to use a stock hood?
