Wifes '96 astro has very poor circulation to the drivers floor. Passengers side blows some, but it never blows more than when on the defrost/floor mix. Defrost also blows while in floor mode.

Where is the flapper for the floor heat? I need to check some lines, it looked like it was in the dash above the doghouse, but I couldn't follow the duct that far due to obstructions.

Any advice?

Thanks

Welcome Aboard!

Check the vacuum source for the HVAC controls. It is likely that the vacuum is inadequate, indicated by the defrost damper not closing fully. There is a line from the left (driver's) side of the intake manifold which routes in front of the throttle body to the right side of the engine compartment. There is a "T" fitting and check valve on th eright side, and vacuum splits between a plastic reservoir mounted low on the RH frame rail and the line entering the passenger compartment for the HVAC. The line tends to split above the intake, and the reservoi can ne cracked or damaged from heat cycling and road debris. If the HVAC controls do not retain vacuum after the engine is shut off, the reservoir is suspect.

OK, I'd read about the suspect line but assumed I was OK since I had most of the controls. I'll check it out today.
Where can I access the floor flapper?
