Chrome look??

Ive been tryin to get that Chrome look on the my motorcycle exhausts, and I cant seem to get it right. Ive tried chrome silver and flat alluminum, and also titanium silver, but nuthin seems to work. Anyone have tips??

Sorry, this is a messageboard, you can't really expect replies right away. However to help you with the chrome:

1.) If you have an airbrush, buy some Alclad II Chrome. This is a special mixed lacquer metallizer that, when sprayed over gloss black enamel, will replicate the chrome look you're looking for.

2.) If you don't have an airbrush, try some Chrome metalizers by automotive lacquer companies. I have heard good results can be achieved with Duplicolor Chrome metalizer.

3.) Your third option is to buy some Bare Metal Foil chrome and tape it on the pipe it self. Tricky to get everything smooth on a curved surface like an exhaust pipe, IMO.

I find there is metalizer from testors, but havent tried yet.

There isn't much to talk about the chassis, but it was painted semi gloss black, and the engine was painted metallic gray. The silencer was painted with Alclad, and the pipes were treated with Kosutte Ginsan, a powder to create a realistic chrome effect.

Thx Honoturtle! But is it very tough to use Metal Foil? what is the procedure to make it smooth??? should I add some heat while "foiling"?

I guess it depends on you surface, but when you purchase the foil, it usually comes with some simple instructions for application. I know Warren used it on his Chevelle (www.automotiveforums.com/scalemodeling/pman/Chevelle.html) so you could ask him for some advice.

SnJ Aluminum polishing powder is a product very similar to the Kosutte Gin-San stuff HLJ sells.

You just need the powder, not the entire starter kit.
You can apply the powder over any glossy or semigloss surface,
it even has a slight polishing effect. I use a cottom bud (Q-tip) for applying
it on small areas and a piece of an ex-T-shirt for larger areas.
You don't need to clearcoat it, it can stand moderate handling and can be removed with soapy
water (or similar slightly caustic solutions).
I've used it sofar for restoring chrome, coating
mirrors and even for applying a silver tint on
windows !

You will be very surprise.... I have Chrome Part in my Ferrari and some painted with this paint, and i pratictly can't say the difference... try it ! it's 1$ ;-)
