Hello, hoping someone has some suggestions for me. My 91 RegalGs just dies right after start up. It ran fine all summer long, and one day it stalled while driving, I was able to restart it and get home and then died again. I've been reading some threads, so I unplugged my MAF sensor, and the car actually ran (idled), but as soon I pressed the brake it died right away. Later on I was able to put it into gear and dirve it for a few feet then it died.
Could it still be the MAF?? or should the car run fine with it off.
..also. don't know if anyone seen a bit of smoke come out of their steeting wheel once in a while. I think there may be some shorting wires in there that causes this. Can it be taken apart easly to take a look at?

Most GM cars will run without the MAF sensor connected. If you are having problems with it disconnected then you probably have another problem.
On the smoking from the steering column I would check into that as soon as possible. You may have a short in the wiring or an ignition switch with bad/shorted contacts.

I found the problem. It tured out to be the MAF sensor. The SES light is gone, and the car isn't stalling. I also had to get a new battery, as the other one was totaly drained and the car didn't like that. I think I might get the alternator tested just to be on the safe side.
Thanks for the help.
