I have a smallish problem again now that Fall weather is back again here in the North East. The problem...hitting a deep puddle causes the engine to miss momentarily with loss of power and vibration (goes away after a minute or so).

I geussed that the coil packs were getting soaked so I did the wires and used dielectric grease to water proof the coil terminals. This didn't help much. So I am looking for the real problem. Are there any sensors mounted low on the engine that might react to water? Could I also use the same dielectric grease in the connector to keep the water out?

Clint.

Can it be water on belts and pulleys causing slipping then grabbing as they grip again?

No...I'd say this is definately a electrical issue. I'll have a look at the harness today and give it my best geuss (or stay out of the deep puddles).

Gosh, Ive read this before and didnt think of it but could it be your ABS brakes?
Proubbly not.
Of course the O2 sensor may be getting wet but its high up. But you did say a deep puddle.

Crankshaft sensor (ignition timing) is about the lowest sensor. It may be cracked but would cause a pretty good miss, more like a cut off.

Good Luck
