I have a 1986 Ford F250 with a 4.9L 6 cylinder. The TFI ignition module appears to be defective ,just died one day while driving at low speed in summer time heat. I understand that the TFI modules when overheated fail because of being mounted on distributor housing. What did FORD do to remedy the situation after the law suit in California and the award to fix this problem at the dealers. Any info would be helpful - thanks.

Im not sure what year they started doing it, the early 90`s i think, but on the later models the module is mounted to a heat sink on the drivers side fender well. Its a fairly simple conversion, but check with your local dealer, they may have issued a service bulletin on that, and you may get it fixed free.
