I graduated from 3rd gen to 2ng gen. Brought this blue '79 Berlinetta home yesterday. She needs some TLC, but who better than a woman? lol BTW, does anyone know how to do brakes? I don't trust myself with something that vital. And the car(haven't named her yet)definitely needs a refresh in that department. (BTW, the bondo on her looks like stucco from the Olive Garden...creepy guy that I bought her off of didn't know wtf he was doing...) Oh and my old Cam just for kicks. lol :naughty:

Haha I go to school at night too, (because working 40 hours a week ISN'T enough torture) but I'm only taking English and Criminology at the moment. What are you majoring in? Chem isn't so bad, it was one of my favorites in high school! (dork)

I know BRAKES!!! What did you want to know? How to do drums?

By the way, the Berlinetta is gonna look beautiful. I always thought about getting a second gen with the body kit.

Brakes are easy.. just remember to put everything that came out, back in.

Also congrats on the 'new' car. The bondo though looks nasty.

You'll need the brake cylinder, spring set, and new drums. I advise you to get help on the brakes, it's a 2 person job, unless you have a brakedrum tool to do the springs by yourself. It might help to take a picture of it before you take anything apart. When I did this, I sanded and painted the brake pieces with rustoleum to be safe. They look awesome. But I still want disc brakes 500% more

I have all of the pictures you need in my gallery, I think let me check.

K thanks Dyno, you're a big help. I'll have two muscleheads helping me so it should go pretty smooth. Yeah I know the bondo looks gross, that's the second thing on the list (hello electric sander!) and then I have a hole to patch up on the driver's side floor before I put my new interior in. I love those little Berlinetta buttons on the door panels though...I'm going to have to find a way to put them back on. Here's your kiss babe MUAH:wink:

Wow, Jeremy, a nurse huh? You'll have to shave more often in those little skirts you know

Anyway, welcome back SG!

Very nice looking car. Drum brakes are easy as pie once you get accustomed to it. just do one side at a time, and do a search of the forums, I think under problem diagnosis, for "delco-moraine" somebody put up a nice diagram of the system not too long ago.

Dude I am way to fat to fit in one of those white skirts.

That is a good point to just do one at a time. If you get confused you have the other side to use as a reference as to where things go...

Good luck

I have been around just not post whoring like I use too. CRNA would be a good profession. When you have been doing it for a while you can travel and make good money. Maybe you can come to Oregon and do some work here.
Thanks I will need all the help I can get...lol.

Rally, you suck... The sandwich got in your way when reading his post. RULE # 3 - ALWAYS.. no NEVER try to read Dylan's post mid-chew.

Dylan - No stuff? Wasn't aware you were on the market for a new victim. 2 Gens rule... except the middle years. Actually my favorites are the 70-73 and 79-81 models. Check that website BABS put up... they have like 400 dead maro's laying around, probably pick one up for nothing. That way at least you know exactly what you're dealing with... You're not buying a pretty, clean, loud maro that was really a shined up mess with heart trouble, bad legs and a frankenstein interior and matching wiring job.

And yeah played scrabble and boggle, but usually some sort of fist fight breaks out when someone tries to cheat and gets offended when called on it.

Em yeah, no toys anymore. With a Toyota, hell, it's a Toyota, put gas in and go. All I have to with it is track out a short in the rear speakers, coincidently the tail lights have a odd operation to them too and the previous owner used to throw tons of crap in the trunk, so I think that should be pretty easy to find. :grinno:

Then there's the wifes 'new' Taurus which I'm really starting to hate that car. Another "deal that won't be denied" so I have no choice but deal with it. Hopefully after the hundreth trip to the parts store she makes, she'll get the hint and want to deep 6 it.:disappoin She actually started leaning to me to just get it rolling this past weekend (done) and sell it and keep my Buick :cya:

Anyway, as a kid, one of my freinds mom down the street used to have a second gen Berlinetta. Electric blue, just over all I thought it was the coolest car. So, I think i'm done with 3rd gens. Tired of the same old body rot issues on them. There is a 84 Z28 on the next block that I may concider if it ever goes up for sale at the right price. But I don't think i'll ever buy another f-body from above the "rust belt". Just tired of all the motor work being done and then the body is detstroyed. :disappoin

And, I swear, it's this stupid keyboard setting. Has a sensitivty setting in the control panel that no matter what I do it never keeps up with which fingers are faster or how hard/soft the keys were hit.
