The former owner bypassed the heater core but I'm not sure why. I'd like to hook it back up to see whats happening but I have no idea where the hoses should go to and from the heater core. Anybody know of a diagram or could you possibly explain it?

Hmmmm, usually when the heater is bypassed it's a cheap, short term solution for a leaky heater core. I'd suggest you get a bucket or some plastic on the floor after you connect things up. To that end try here:

They have exploded diagrams of all the systems for all Hondas, you should be able to figure out how the hoses are routed. Beyond the above link you should get the Haynes/Chilton service manual or better yet get the Helms service manual. They have complete diagrams. GL

Thanks thats what I needed. Now that its hooked back up its working fine. I believe the PO bypassed it beacuse the heater cable broke and the heat was stuck on. I guess they didn't realize you could just reach under the dash and switch it by hand.

Your welcome. Correct, there is a cable that runs from the temperature control to a water valve under the hood to regulate the coolant going to the cabin. You can easily source a replacement cable from the junkyard or dealer. GL
