Polish for wheels

I have a 2000 z71 with the factory alum wheels. While changing the brake pads I got a lot of brake cleaner on one of the wheels...carelessness!

The wheel had a real dull look afterwards so I used a turtle wax rubbing compound to try to bring it back to life...seems it might have made the problem worse..

Any good cleaner / polishes / techniques I can use to try to bring this wheel back to life?

the brake cleaner could have possibly taken off the clear coat on the wheels. which most likely ruined the finish and shine. i use mothers wheel polish and has worked great on all types of wheels.

I accidentally removed some of the clear coat off of my wheels once... I sprayed them with lacquer and smoothed it out with acetone on a rag.

Made them look factory fresh again. Hard as hell to do, though.

you could just sand them lightly with 1000 grit sand paper then spray them with a clear coat and wetsand it and should look nice.
