I have about $2000.00 and I am not going to put it in myself because I don't know how and don't have the tools. If need be, I will save more money but nothing crazy like $6000.00. I realize i need more money to have it installed. but I just want to get a motor first. I want to make the car as fast as possible but don't know where to start. Any sugesstions would be cool. I have done alot of research however, and I was wondering how difficult it is to put in something like a B16A in, which requires different mounts etc. And how much should I expect to pay for installtion and extras like wiring and ECU etc.
Later:cool:

a b-16a isnt that hard to install if the mechanic really knows what he's doing. and here in cali you can get one installed for about 2500 to 3000.

get a d16z6 (92-95 Si/EX) or d16y8 (96-00 EX) sohc vtec. it drops right in. works with your tranny, motor mounts, axels, and shift linkage. all you need is engine (approx $500), p28 ECU ($150), and wiring harness $150 (or rewire 50 wires yourself for free. i say the harness is worth every penny). to have it installed is much cheaper than b16 as is drops in with no real modifications.

then if you want to go faster you can turbo it for $1500-2000. and it's not half ass turbo that will cause you problems. it's a fully build set-up you can run 10-15 easily on stock internals.

hey turfup we need alittle more info, like how fast do you want to go eventually, like do you wanna build a 10sec racer or would you be happy with 13s. cause if you would be happy with 13s then get a sohc vtec, but if you want to build a 13s or faster race car then i say get a b16

I want to be able to smoke other cars off of the line, but would like some topend as well. Where do I get one of these engines and how do I know if I am buying junk? Are there any places that offer warranties?:smoker2:

I forgot to add that I need a new tranny with the engine.

You can get a good engine from your local performance shop. They always have a few d16z6/y8's lying around from people swapping in other engines, most likely they'll have trannies too. Whether or not the engine is good will be up to the shop, but if they don't offer at least a warrantee then I'd go someplace else.

what if he wants go fast AROUND CORNERS?

why is everything about drag racing?

its a honda... it has front wheel drive.. it SUCKS for traction.

if you want to go fast in a straight line get a AWD car or a RWD car...

honda's are nible little cars, they love being tossed in the corners. why deprive the car of what it wants?
