Instrument switch not working right?

Hello, I have a 2005 Nissan Sentra. I don't think my instrument dimmer switch works right? When moving the dial left and right, the lights go dim and bright...like they are supposed to. But when I rotate the dial all the way to the bright...and then just a little more so it "clicks"....shouldn't the interior dome light come on? I tried it with the switch on the dome light in all 3 positions, and it still didn't work, other than when the switch was in the ON position...
Is my dimmer switch bad on the dash?

If someone that has a '05 Sentra, or a similar switch, let me know if the dome light is supposed to come on....thanks for any info.
