short shifter for hybrid swap question

i've just installed a jdm b18c type r in my 5th gen civic...and i have a friend who has a short shifter for a 6th gen civic...my question is if i get his short shifter from his 6th gen civic, will it work with my swap???

it shouldnt really have anything to do with the motor i dont think.
