hi, did you ever get the pin out of the clarion? I am in the same situation. my stereo has the plugs with the wires cut about 2-3 inches out. the wires as you look at the back starting with the small plug are :
bottom row skip the first pin next pin is black/white the the third from
the left is orange, fourt on the bottom row is grey/red and above the
4th pin is a grey wire. on the big plug the top row has 4 pins and the bottom row has 6 pins. the wires are as follows
top row: purple on pin 1, brown on pin 2, red/grey pin 3, blue/pink pin 4
bottom row:
green/grey pin1,brown/white pin 2, pin 3 empty, pink grey pin 4, red/white pin 5, and pin6 of the bottom row is empty.
i believe that the orange and black on the small plug and the two greys on the small plug are speaker wires as are the green and purple and the two browns. the red and pink and blue i'm not sure of but the claruon web site says red is positive and blue is power antenna the rest is a mystery. I copy and pasted the clarion wiring list i got from them.
if you can make sense of this please elmail me at

There are two types of clarion pinouts. A 16 pin and a 14 pin. I was able to figure out most of the 14 pinout for my 2003 Hyundai Accent.

Isn't it strange that neither Hyundai or Clarion will admit to making this radio?

Looking at the back of the radio, the top row is numbered 1 to 7, left to right and the bottom from 8 to 14.

Pin 1 (orange) left with no connection, I couldn't figure out what it did.
Pin 2 (Blue/Wht) see pin 1
Pin 3 Red. SWitched 12 volt from ignition.
Pin 4 Green/Blk spkr 1
Pin 5 Green spkr 1
Pin 6 Wht/blk spkr 2
Pin 7 Wht spkr 2

Pin 8 Yellow 12 volt (constant hot)
Pin 9 no connection
Pin 10 Blk ground
pin 11 vio/blu Spkr 3
pin 12 vio spkr 3
pin 13 gry/blk spkr 4
pin 14 gry spkr 4

The colours are for the wires coming from the plug I bought for the back of my radio. They may not be the same for all other plugs.
I took the second colour on the spker wires to be the negative side. In my car, I can't tell the difference when I tried to reverse one pair, but I wired them all the same to provide an equal impedance for the output drivers in the radio.

The hot wire (pin 8) is fused near the battery so if you can't find it check the fuse. The same fuse on my car also works the clock so if the clock resets everytime you turn on the ignition check that fuse.

To set the time on the radio: first turn off the radio, then push and hold the display button until the display flashes. The up and down buttons set the minutes and hours. You can play with it until you figure it out.

Best of luck
